Abstract: Background: Lichen planus and lichenoid mucositis are relatively common conditions in the field of oral medicine. However, it is very uncommon for patients or practitioners to be able to identify triggering or initiating factor of the onset of the conditions. We present a case of lichenoid mucositis associated with full dentures.
In this study mast cell and eosinophil densities along with number of blood capillaries were studied to find out if they could aid in histopathological distinction between oral lichen planus and lichenoid mucositis. Aims: To enumerate mast cells and compare the status of Mast Cells (Intact or Degranulated) in Lichen planus, Lichenoid mucositis and normal buccal mucosa in tissue sections
LICHENOID MUCOSITIS/Drug reaction. Oral lichenoid lesions (OLL) are clinically and histologically similar to OLP. OLL has also been described as an oral li- chenoid reaction or lichenoid contact 3 Sep 2016 change has been termed “interface mucositis,” which is also encountered in oral lesions of lupus erythematosus and in additional oral lichenoid. 16 May 2018 Oral mucosal disorders. ▫ Oral candidiasis. ▫ Lichenoid mucositis (OLP, GVHD, desquamative gingivitis).
Symptoms of Lichenoid Mucositis This type of mucositis is a coverall term for flat lesions that occur on the mucosa, or the lining of the cheeks in the mouth. Oral mucositis is an inflammation of the mucosal membranes of the mouth and surrounding areas. Symptoms include red, shiny gum tissue, a swollen mouth and soreness or pain. Oral lichen planus (LIE-kun PLAY-nus) is an ongoing (chronic) inflammatory condition that affects mucous membranes inside your mouth. Oral lichen planus may appear as white, lacy patches; red, swollen tissues; or open sores. Oral lichen planus is a non-infectious, inflammatory condition that affects the membranes inside the mouth, and it's a variation of the skin condition, lichen planus. For some patients, the symptoms are mild, but for others, painful sores and red, inflamed tissues cause discomfort.

The differential diagnosis of plasma-cell orificial muco-sitis includes allergic or contact mucositis, pemphi-gus vulgaris, cicatricial pemphigoid, lichen planus, fungal infection, plasmoacanthoma and syphilis [11]. The terms "lichenoid mucositis" and "hyperortokeratosis" are histologic descriptions of the microscopic appearance of a biopsy specimen-- something that may be offered as part of a pathologist's report. Taken by themselves, they do not provide much insight into the true nature of the lesion from which the biopsy specimen was harvested.

The manifestations of oral lichen planus vary from reticular, white papules and plaques to erythematous, atrophic, and erosive, with frank ulcers. A lichenoid drug eruption is a reaction to a medication. Some of the types of drugs that may trigger this condition include: anticonvulsants, such as carbamazepine (Tegretol) or phenytoin
